Lately, well... not exactly lately... but for the past couple of months I have been getting really into smoothie bowls. I’m talking I’ll have a smoothie bowl for breakfast everyday and there may have been a stage where I was having them for dinner (whatcha gonna do).
One thing I started to notice was how expensive and generally full of nasty ingredients all of the granolas and mueslis I was buying where! I didn’t really notice at first but when I starting reading what’s actually in the food I’m eating more I was pretty shocked.
I decided I would give making my own muesli a crack and I’ve honestly been obsessed ever since.
Yeah, it might require a little bit more effort in sourcing your ingredients and making them but it’s definitley worth it. Not only do you know exactly what is in what you’re eating but you can tailor make it to what you actually love eating!
My latest combo has been:
- Caramalised buckinis (I get these from Source Wholefoods)
- Cocoa nibs (Source)
- Dried Mulberries (Source)
- Chai Seeds
- Shredded Coconut
I find that this combo works sooo well and they’re all super good for you! The mulberries make it really chewy and have a really lovely flavour aswell!
I don’t measure the ingredients I just chuck how ever much I think into a big glass jar and mix!
There you have it! All ready to eat and put on top of anything you desire! It also taste epic with coconut yoghurt! Yuuuuummm
I hope this gives you some inspo to get creative!
